This cute boba shop on Shaftesbury Avenue is selling soft serve wrapped in 24K gold leaf.

One of central London’s cutest bubble tea shop, BOBA Tea London, launched their new luxury soft serve at the end of 2024.

The trend started in Japan by a luxury beauty and souvenir store, called HAKUICHI.

HAKUICHI is located in Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture which is famous for producing 99% (!) of Japan’s gold leaf.

Kanazawa is a historical city in Japan where gold leaf production dates back to the Edo period (1603 – 1868). The perfect combination of humidity, temperature and pure water made the city the perfect location for gold leaf production.

HAKUICHI is located in one of the historical districts of Kanazawa. The shop sells luxurious makeup products and delectable treats infused with gold.

They launched their Gold Leaf soft serve last Summer and it instantly went viral. Locals and tourists all flocked to the store to try the super photogenic luxurious sweet treat.

This trend has arrived in London and now available at BOBA Tea London for a surprisingly affordable price.

The Golf Leaf soft serve costs £4.50 and is served in a black waffle smoothy cone. For an extra 50p you can choose a different cone: chocolate waffle cone, rainbow sprinkle waffle cone or black cookies & cream waffle cone.

When it comes to flavours, we don’t have too many choices. You can choose form chocolate, vanilla or the mixture of the two.

Once you’ve picked your cone and flavour, they’ll meticulously incorporate a 24K sparkling gold sheet on your swirly ice cream.

About Gold Leaf

Gold leaf is actually an incredible thin sheet of gold (0.0001mm). It’s very fragile, meaning it can break from the slightest touch or can get torn by a gentle breeze.

Therefore, transferring a gold sheet on an ice cream is not as easy as it may seem. It requires experience and the person doing it needs to be very quick. The whole process has to happen in an instant, so, don’t blink or you might miss it.

It is believed in Japan that gold bestows the best of luck in financial matters when eaten.

You’ve probably stumbled upon ice cream vans of Triple Scoop at Churchill Gardens and Bromley during Summer. They’re the one serving those insane ice cream trays, ice cream slushies, boba teas and O’does.

O’does is a dessert speciality inspired by lokma and puff puff, gulab jamon. It’s basically fried dough balls filled with sauce of your choice and served with a wide variety of toppings.

O’does has gone viral on social media multiple times and not without a reason.

The menu blends classic flavours with modern offerings.

Think of those traditional creamy cones you had at ice cream vans as a kid on hot Summer days; insane ice cream trays with mountains of ice creams topped with the most colourful sauces and toppings, slushies with a twist, boba teas and so much more!

When we visited O’doe by Triple Scoop, we loved it so much that we soon had to go back again.

O’does are an absolute must-try! The crispy on the outside, soft on the inside doughnuts are made to order right in front of you.

They fry the little balls until they turn gold and fill them one by one with the sauce of your choice before spreading them with your favourite sauce and toppings.

Yes, O’does are customisable. You can choose from a range of different sauces to fill your O’does and more sauces and toppings to garnish.

From classic cinnamon to cookies & cream to pistachio, birthday cake and millionaire shortcake, you’ll definitely find your favourite flavour.

We tried the pistachio and the glazed one and loved it so much that we had to bring home a takeaway tray.

The famous triple scoop trays you’ve seen across the fleet of Triple Scoop ice cream vans are now available at their shop.

Pick your flavours and watch them being loaded with the craziest toppings for the ultimate Triple Scoop experience.

We tried the ’Candy Bubble Tray’ which was a fun and colourful combination of bubblegum and strawberry scoops, topped with bubblegum sauce, bubblegum millions and cotton candy.

TripleShakes combine creamy ice cream milkshakes with the viral crackable chocolate shell that was super popular last Summer.

All TripleShakes are 16oz (~0.5 litre) and come with Triple Scoop’s signature whippy soft serve and delicious toppings.

If you visit O’doe by Triple Scoop, be prepared that there are endless flavours of ice cream and sorbet available. It’s so difficult to choose!

By the owners’ recommendation, we tried raspberry, kiwi and apple sorbet and Dubai chocolate and berry crumble ice cream.

The sorbets were incredibly creamy. We would never tell it was sorbet, not ice cream. All the flavours tasted like real fruit (without exaggeration).

The Dubai chocolate ice cream was heavenly rich in flavour and the berry crumble was refreshing and amazingly delicious.

Triple Scoop is a family run business currently being run by three brothers. The business, named ‘La Crème’ started decades ago with the brothers’ grandparents with a single ice cream van.

Over the years, the brothers’ parents inherited the business and continued the legacy. They expanded the business and earned trust of the local community by offering the most delicious and high quality dessert creations.

You probably didn’t know, but Triple Scoop ice cream vans have appeared in many music videos! Triple Scoop vans are available to rent, and they are happy to fulfil and accommodate special requests.

Gingerbread City is a popular annual attraction in London, organised by the Museum of Architecture. It’s the sweetest exhibition during the festive season.

Discover a whole city made entirely from gingerbread, decorated with colourful candy, frosting, gummies and biscuits. There are over 50 mouth-watering buildings on display (please, don’t eat them) that took months for artists to bake, assemble and decorate.

Every year, Gingerbread City has a new theme. This year, the exhibition is revolving around recycling.

‘Recycled City’ is exploring how buildings and places could be repurposed into biscuity landscapes while preserving their heritage and addressing social challenges, including housing and transport.

You will recognise famous London railway stations, the Battersea Power Station, the Big Ben and many other famous buildings.

To make the experience more fun, kids (and adults) can embark on a treasure hunt. Can you find all the hidden characters and little details?

Harvey Nichols have partnered with ‘The World of Tim Burton’ exhibition at the Design Museum to celebrate gothic elegance and festive cheer with exclusive window display and a themed afternoon tea.

Harvey Nichols’ Knightsbridge store is famous for their whimsical festive window displays.

This year, in partnership with the Design Museum, they launched a curious red and black window display showcasing the world-famous director’s sculptures borrowed from Burton’s personal collection.

Harvey Nichols have transformed the traditional afternoon tea into an eerie yet playful celebration of the festive season. The Tim Burton-inspired gothic afternoon tea blends Burton’s spooky whimsical wonderland and Christmas magic.

The afternoon tea serves sweet and savoury sandwiches, cakes and snacks, including white Celeriac and Mushroom Soup served with black mushroom gel stripes, mini Chicken Pie with Purple Potato Puree and Roast Beef, Truffle Cheese, Horseradish, Truffle Pecorino Sandwich served with charcoal bread and delicious bites.

For sweets, they serve black Christmas baubles with edible glitter, blood orange curd crémeux & Christmas pudding mousse, tea & biscuit teapot cake filled with Harvey Nichols Breakfast Tea mousse and tea gel, peppermint candy cane macaron and white chocolate cinnamon gingerbread bonbons.

And, of course, the classic homemade raisin and plain scones, served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam.

The afternoon tea comes with tea or coffee of your choice. Alternatively, you can opt for a glass of Champagne (that’s extra charge).

EL&N Café has recently introduced their limited-edition Halloween menu, called ‘School of Spells’. The menu is available at all EL&N stores around the globe and features three spooky potions and two themed mousse cakes.

Dunkin’ Donuts launched their Halloween special on the 1^st October to bring the flavour this spooky season.

Their limited-edition treats are called the ‘Spooky Six’, a terrifyingly tasty donut collection to satisfy your Autumn cravings.

Jack

The classic round one with the spooky ‘Jack-o-lantern’ face. It’s filled with hazelnut crème and finished with vanilla icing and chocolate decor.

Frank

Say hello to Frank, the monster of Victor Frankenstein, feared by many. However, fear not! This green guy is the sweetest monster you’ll have ever met. Filled with caramel, covered with vanilla icing and rainbow sprinkles, finished with chocolate decor.

Drac

The collection would not be completed without Dracula. This square donut comes with purple vanilla frosting, tempting chocolate filling and chocolate decoration.

Wolfie

Meet the friendly werewolf, Wolfie. His fur is chocolate strands, and his skin is maple icing, and he is as sweet inside as Bavarian crème.

Beatrix

Beatrix the witch is here to fill your day with the sweetest memories. Her blue face, salted caramel filling, orange hair made of sprinkles and her chocolate hat will definitely make you smile today.

Bones

This not-so-spooky donut skull has cookies & crème filling, vanilla icing and a smiling skeleton face made out of chocolate.

Cursed Candy Apple Iced Latte

No tricks, just treats! It’s your favourite caramel latte, but spookier. It comes with strawberry sauce and green apple popping balls.

Cursed Candy Apple Frappe

This creepy, but oh-so-sweet frappe is a tempting Halloween caramel latte, elevated to another level with layered strawberry sauce and green apple popping balls, topped with cream and fudge pieces, and finished with a drizzle of strawberry sauce.

This is the one we tried. It was absolutely delicious! It was creamy and crunchy, and it went surprisingly well with the green apple popping balls.

Gong Cha x Final Fantasy XIV collaboration started on 17 July and during the promotional period you can enjoy three FFXIV-inspired drinks and earn special rewards, including a free mount or limited-edition keychains.

All you need to do is to visit your nearest Gong Cha shop and purchase any three drinks (either collab drink or not collab drinks) in a single transaction. You’ll then receive either a scratch card or a cute keychain.

The three collaboration drinks are named after FFXIV characters and served in special collaboration cups featuring those characters.

The three drinks are:

Fat Chocobo’s Flying Smoothie
Cactuar Matcha Latte

The level of sugar and ice are customisable.

It’s a brown sugar milk tea with a dash of pearls to satisfy you boba carvings. It’s a combination of ice latte and boba. Perfect light refreshment in the afternoon.

It’s a mango smoothie with tapioca pearls. Very refreshing and it actually tastes like mango. Perfect to beat the heat on the hot Summer days.

It’s a premium Matcha milk tea with rich (but not too bitter) Matcha flavour. If you’re a green tea fan, this will definitely be your favourite of all three drinks.

If you choose the free FFXIV mount, you’ll receive a scratch card with a secret code.

Once you got your card, scratch the silver layer to reveal your code. That code can only be used on a special site, redeem.finalfantasyxiv.com. After typing in your code, this website will generate another code which then must be entered into Mog Station. Once you’ve done that, you receive an in-game mail with your new mount.

Located right next to West Kensington station, Mitsuba is a tranquil oasis offering relaxing atmosphere to read, work or catch up with friends.

The Japanese-style wooden tables and chairs follow simplicity and emphasise clean lines and neutral colours to create a peaceful and calming atmosphere.

Mitsuba is famous for their beautiful and delicious bento boxes. There is a wide selection of beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian bento boxes.

They have lots of hot and cold drinks to choose from, including seasonal drinks, such as Levander Matcha Latte, speciality teas, such as Kyoto Grape Oolong tea and a range of bubble teas.

However, Mitsuba has recently gone viral on TikTok for their Totoro red bean pastry.

The cute fluffy pastry is served warm and filled with sweet red bean pasta.

All food and drink are served on elegant wooden plates, making them even more TikTokable.

Chatime UK announced their first ever collaboration with BT21 this April.

At the first phase, they launched two new drinks: Blueberry Milkshake and Earl Grey Mousse along with a range of BT21 merch, including colour-changing tumbler and mystery pin badges.

The second phase was announced at the beginning of June. Two new delicious slushies were introduced: Banana Peach and Avocado Taro Slushy accompanied by new merch: BT21 tote bag and double-sided keychains. The keychains came with a special component allowing you to attach it to your pin badge and your tote bag. How clever!

The final phase of the collaboration started on the 20^th June. Again, they introduced two new drinks and new merch. ‘Bubbly Blueberry Burst’ is an Insta-worthy electric purple drink while ‘Sizzling Raspberry Refresher’ is a delicious and invigorating cooler. Perfect in the Summer heatwave.

Both drinks come with popping candy for extra playfulness.

The final phase of the collab has come with BT21 extendable lanyard and 3D BT21 card holder. The two can be purchased together as one item.

The new drink is inspired by the most loved character of the anime series: Anya Forger. The limited-edition drink is called, ‘Anya’s Strawberry Peanut Frappe’ and is taking inspiration from Anya’s pink hair and her favourite food: peanut.

‘Anya’s Strawberry Peanut Frappe’ is a delicious blend of strawberries and creamy, chocolaty peanut, topped with crushed hazelnuts.

Similarly to the other Spy x Family-inspired drinks, this one also comes with themed cup sleeve and free sticker pack.

The Alley launched their Spy x Family collab this May with two character-inspired drinks: ‘Twilight’s Passionfruit Orange’ and ‘Thorn Princess’s Berries Frappe’, inspired by Loid Forger and his wife Yor Forger.

The yellow-orange drink, ‘Twilight’s Passionfruit Orange’ is as charming as Loid’s blonde hair, and the slight bubbles symbolise his challenging tasks as one of the best spies in the world.

‘Twilight’s Passionfruit Orange’ is a refreshing blend of passionfruit and orange, combined with green tea and sparkling water.

The red colour of ‘Thorn Princess’s Berries Frappe’ symbolizes blood, and Yor’s captivating beauty. Just like a red rose with its dangerous thorns. The drink is finished with white milk foam that represents Yor’s signature white headband.

‘Thorn Princess’s Berries Frappe’ is a rich and sweet blend of blueberries and green tea, paired with chewy boba and velvety milk foam.
