Summer Tasting Sessions at Japan House London

Japan House London is hosting free in-store tasting sessions throughout August.
Visitors have the opportunity to taste Japanese teas, coffee and sweets from new arrivals to customers favourites.
The sessions are on every Monday and Thursday from the 3rd – 27th August between 11:30am – 12:30pm & 5:30pm – 6:30pm and there are different treats to try each week.
From the classic favourite Dorayaki to a kawaii bunny-shaped dessert and a crunchy matcha biscuit, there are something for everyone.
If you’re not the one with sweet tooth, you’ll also have the opportunity to try Truffle soy sauce with avocado, seaweed chutney with rice crackers and Tosazu vinegar with cucumber.
You can also try the new summer drinks, including Iced Genmaicha Tea, Cold brew sencha tea, Iced barley tea and Cold brew coffee.

They host FREE 30-minute sessions to help you plan your trip based on your preferences. No booking required. It’s operating on a first come, first served bases.
The sessions are from Monday – Friday between 11am – 12:30pm & 2pm – 5:30pm.

Let’s say that I’m a person who is planning to visit Japan and want to stay for two weeks. I’m interested in Japanese pop culture, including anime, manga, J-pop, fashion, kawaii culture, and modern kawaii food & drink. What are the best places for me to visit? I would love to visit Tokyo, but also other places/cities.
When it comes to places where you can enjoy Japanese pop subculture in one place, such as anime and manga, Akihabara, Harajuku and Ikebukuro in Tokyo are the places to go.

Let’s say that I’m a person fascinated by Japanese traditional culture and history. I’m planning to spend two weeks in Japan and would love to visit historical places and do activities linked to traditional culture, but I don’t like places packed with tourists. What are the main attractions in Japan during different seasons?
As Japan has distinct four seasons, there are different ways to enjoy the country depending on the time of year.
Whilst the plum blossoms and cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn foliage are the most popular, the landscapes covered with snow in winter are also beautiful.
In Sapporo, Hokkaido, there is a snow festival in February. Ski resorts in Hokkaido and Tohoku are very popular for their excellent snow quality.
There are hot springs throughout Japan, offering different experiences whatever the season.
The country is also blessed with a wealth of natural beauty, including high and low mountains, rivers, ponds, lakes, waterfalls and the sea, etc.
In Hokkaido, you can see drift ice in places such as Rausu and Nemuro, so, experiences such as cruises on tourist icebreakers and walks amongst the drift ice are offered.
In Okinawa, subtropical islands, you can experience a culture that differs slightly from that of Honshu and enjoy a range of beach activities. Furthermore, Okinawa is home to world-class coral reefs.
Summers in Japan are extremely hot and humid, so you need to take care when travelling at this time of year.
With its rich culinary culture, it is also perfect for foodies.
