Sakura Season has arrived in London a bit early this year. Tombo Japanese Café – known for their Sanrio collaboration and cutest dessert creations – just introduced their Sakura Season Specials on their Instagram.
They introduced a very special Japanese dessert, called ‘Japanese Mont Blanc’ last November. ‘Mont Blanc’ is a super popular dessert in Japan (and just as Instagrammable). It is cream and chestnut purée which they press through a machine with small holes that makes it a spaghetti-like swirl that they use to garnish ice cream or cake.
Now, that Cherry Blossom Season is on the corner, they added a Sakura flavour to their existing flavours: matcha and purple potato.
The Sakura Season Specials consist of Sakura Mont Blanc Sundae, Sakura Matcha Latte, Sakura Mochi, and Sakura Soft Serve in a Cone.

Sakura Mont Blanc Sundae is a pretty-in-pink dessert (almost) too pretty to eat. It’s matcha or Sakura soft serve (your choice) lying on a crispy rice cereal bed, served with freshly pressed Sakura chestnut purée, topped with tricolour mochi on a skewer.

Sakura Matcha Latte is a picturesque pink and green ice latte, served with pink, white and green mochi on a skewer. Not too sweet, just perfect.
Sakura mochi is a pretty pink sweet rice cake, filled with red bean paste, wrapped in a pickled cherry blossom leaf.
Sakura Soft Serve is a perfect dessert on the go between two museums.

London Night Café opened its doors in September 2023. Just a 6-minute walk from Aldgate Station, the café is a quirky “neodecadent” space with “indoor beach”, dimly lit cosy, quiet corners, a ball pit, retro video games, and unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits.
The café is a small independent place, and the result of a series of past projects and prototypes created by an architecture student: a jungle room, alleyways as decadent dinner party scenes, and a neon cyberpunk trailer.
London Night Café has two floors offering futuristic décor, cosy corners for late night workers or readers, and plenty of comfortable seatings for small friend groups to chat and exchange thoughts.

The ground floor has a large sofa, an “indoor beach” with its very own heater in Winter, a desk with free-to-read books and oversized super comfortable armchairs to sink in with a cup of tea or coffee and relax or play Super Mario.
The space looks like a friend’s chaotic but comfy living room where you can feel home and stay as long as you like.

The toilet is just as peculiar as the guest area. It has its ‘Rave mode’ button to level up your lavatory experience. If you push the button, it will play techno music and turn into a mini disco with thunders and lightings coming from the artificial cloud floating above your head.

A curvy neon-lit stairs leads downstairs where a huge plush sofa with lots of cushions – so big that 15 people can lay down comfortably – greets visitors, along with a mini ball pit and more video games to play under the dim lights.

They charge £7 per person at the entrance, and you can enjoy free wifi, free unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits, free-to-read books and you can stay as long as you wish (within that night’s opening times). Soft drinks are also available for purchase.
You are welcome to bring your laptop, your own food and do your introverted stuff on your own or with others.

Since Fridays are usually very busy and the venue is quite small, visitors should purchase a ticket for £10 to enter the café. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
If you arrive after midnight, however, you probably will not need a ticket, as the venue tends to be quieter after 12am.

The café currently has four adorable Shiba Inu puppies: Emi, Meatball, Pickle and Minnie. They are all four months old cuddly furballs.
Emi is always full of energy. She is like a little dynamo, constantly zooming around, always ready for fun and play.
Meatball & Pickle are two brothers, always ready for some mischief. These curious adventurers are a bit calmer than Emi but always partner in crime.
Minnie is a true attention and snack seeker. She never says no to treats. Be careful because she will instantly steal your heart with her puppy eyes, and you’ll find yourself giving her all the treats.
How it Works

Shiba Inus with Love has two floors: the ground floor is a nice cosy café with friendly staff. The lower ground floor is the puppy kindergarten where you can meet and play with the four doggies and take photos.
If you wish to visit the puppies, you have to book a time slot at the till. One time slot is 20 minutes long.
Go downstairs to show your ticket. Wash your hands and place your coat and bag in a free locker provided. You also have to take off your shoes before entering the puppy area.

After an introduction and listening to the house rules, you’re free to enjoy your time with the cuddly puppies. They have plenty of toys to play with and the instructor often allow visitors to give some snacks to the dogs.
The number of visitors allowed with the dogs at a time are very limited. That’s to make sure the puppies don’t get overwhelmed, and it also allows visitors to really spend quality time with the dogs.
If you love delicious food and drink, are a huge dog lover and would love to make new friends, Shiba Inus with Love is your rare chance to make new friends and spend quality time with this beloved Japanese breed.

You’ve probably stumbled upon ice cream vans of Triple Scoop at Churchill Gardens and Bromley during Summer. They’re the one serving those insane ice cream trays, ice cream slushies, boba teas and O’does.
O’does is a dessert speciality inspired by lokma and puff puff, gulab jamon. It’s basically fried dough balls filled with sauce of your choice and served with a wide variety of toppings.

If you visit O’doe by Triple Scoop, be prepared that there are endless flavours of ice cream and sorbet available. It’s so difficult to choose!
By the owners’ recommendation, we tried raspberry, kiwi and apple sorbet and Dubai chocolate and berry crumble ice cream.
The sorbets were incredibly creamy. We would never tell it was sorbet, not ice cream. All the flavours tasted like real fruit (without exaggeration).
The Dubai chocolate ice cream was heavenly rich in flavour and the berry crumble was refreshing and amazingly delicious.

London Transport Museum’s café, Canteen, is named after the static and mobile canteens used to cater the staff during the 1940s and 1950s.
The café’s interior is celebrating the changing design of London transport by using original furnishing and furniture once used at stations all over London.

There are original tiles from Sloan Square and light fittings originally planned to be installed at Embarkment station.
The wooden benches were found in the basement of Wembley Park and Gloucester Road, while the original posters and maps once helped passengers find their way at different stations all over the city.

There are also luggage racks from 1960s A stock trains.
The signs you can see all over the café are all reclaimed from the Underground.

Park your bum on one of the glorious moquette seats and explore the food and drink offerings.
The menu has a range of hot and cold meals, including soup of the day, sandwiches, Great British specials, such as all day English Breakfast and fish & chips, as well as salads.

They also have the cutest kids’ meal in the fridge. The meal comes in an adorable London Transport Museum-themed box and contains a sandwich, a drink and some snacks.

The highlights on the menu are definitely the Underground-themed cocktails. There are two cocktails: ‘Routemaster’ and Elizabeth Line’, and a mocktail: ‘Central Line’ on the menu.
Bonus point to the Canteen for being breastfeeding friendly.
London Transport Museum Canteen is on the first floor of the shop and open to all. Make sure you a pay visit next time you’re in Covent Garden and travel back in time while sitting on a moquette seat surrounded with all those memorabilia.

Taiwanese bubble tea brand,T4opened their new branch near Elephant & Castle station earlier this year.
The lovely little shop directly connected to Asian supermarket Kiki & Miumiu, so you can easily grab a boba after finishing your grocery shopping.
What’s the most amazing about this bubble tea shop, however, is that it’s Studio Ghibli-themed!

There are Studio Ghibli decorations all over the shop. You can find lots of Totoro figurines, No Face and Haku from Spirited Away, the cat bus from Totoro, characters from Kiki’s Delivery Service and many more. Even their calendar and the napkin dispenser on the counter are Studio Ghibli-themed.
There are not just figurines and plushies but mini fountains and cute humidifiers too, along with an automatic No Face coin bank for tips. Simply put some coins on the tray and watch No Face eat them.

The staff is very welcoming and friendly, so make sure you bring some coins with you to tip.
They were happy to show me around and even turned on some extra lights for me to take good pictures, and we had a nice chat about our favourite Studio Ghibli movies.
As for the bubble tea, they have a lot of options and all the boba are customisable.
I ordered the Taro milk tea with some clear jelly. It was rich in flavour but was not too sweet.

Gong Cha x Final Fantasy XIV collaboration started on 17 July and during the promotional period you can enjoy three FFXIV-inspired drinks and earn special rewards, including a free mount or limited-edition keychains.

The Poetry Pharmacy is hosting a range of events and collaborations in their new Oxford Street location.
There will be book launches, reading events with publishers, ‘Poetry Walks’ to explore literary London (coming soon) and much more.
One of the upcoming events will be taken place on the 7th July, when award-winning poet, Jen Feroze will be writing bespoke poems on the spot on her vintage typewriter.
No need to book, just show up on the day!
Another exciting event will be happening on 24th July from 6:30pm. ‘JOY//US – Poems of Queer Joy from Arachne Press’ will celebrate an anthology of queer joy with reading poems from poets, including Dean Atta, Cherry Potts and Erin Sheehan.
Ticket for this event is £8 which includes a refreshment. Plus, £3 discount copies of the anthology will be available for ticket holders. Book your ticket here.

The in-person consultations – which are currently only available in Shropshire (not yet available in London) – are by appointment only and the price includes tea or coffee of your choice and some delicious cake, plus a copy of ‘The Emergency Poet – An Anti-Stress Poetry Anthology’.
If you can’t make it to Shropshire, you can book an online session. The online consultation includes your prescription and a copy of ‘The Emergency Poet – An Anti-Stress Poetry Anthology’ posted to your address.
How The Poetry Pharmacy Started

The Poetry Pharmacy was shortlisted for an Independent Business Award in 2021. Lush was on the judging panel and the project caught the eye of co-founder and CEO of Lush, Mark Constantine who later contacted with Debora Alma.
They set up a pop-up within Lush Studios in Soho in 2023 which was a huge success. Following that success, Lush Oxford Street branch offered a permanent space for The Poetry Pharmacy on the first floor of the store.
The Poetry Pharmacy’s grand opening was on the 1st July 2024 and Mark and Deborah are now working on a book together, titled ‘The Poetry Business School’ to give valuable advice to small business owners in a form of poetry prescriptions. The book will be published in this November.

The Japanese-style wooden tables and chairs follow simplicity and emphasise clean lines and neutral colours to create a peaceful and calming atmosphere.
