Where is Crypt Café?
Crypt Café is buried under St-Martin-in-the-Fields (the church on Trafalgar Square). Brick vaulted ceilings and historic tombstones from the 18th century create this place a shivering yet welcoming atmosphere.
To get to Crypt Café you have to use an elevator that brings you beneath the ground. Entering into the café is like entering into another world.
A Coffee with Tombstones
The original brick vaults and tombstones beneath your feet and walls lined with crypts provide the backdrop of your experience. (don’t worry, the dead are not buried here anymore.)
I ordered a hot chocolate. The service was quick and efficient, and the hot chocolate was delicious. I strolled around the café with my drink in my hand and just couldn’t resist taking as many photos and possible as Café in the Crypt experience is something I will remember even years from now.
If you are on the go but fancy for a unique café experience, Crypt Café is definitely a choice.
