Phantom Femmes: Ghostly Tales of the City Gals by HERstorical Tours is not your usual historical walking tour.
As its name suggests, HERstorical Tours is specialised in the stories of women in history. The stories rarely told, dismissed or erased during history by labelling women hysterical, mad or unstable. The lesser-known stories of women that need to be told in an engaging way.
Phantom Femmes: Ghostly Tales of the City Gals is an interactive spooky walking tour uncovering the spine-shivering tales of London’s female ghosts.

Starting at Farringdon Station, this intimate tour will see you following the whispers of the unseen to the shadows, visiting spooky alleyways and notoriously haunted places.
You’ll hear the tragic tale of a workhouse girl who took afterlife vengeance, wife selling, a notorious ‘itchy’ ghost and so many more!
Try Ghost Haunting…If You Dare

Although, this is not a theatrical tour like many others by HERstorical Tours, but instead, you’ll have the opportunity to go for a little ghost haunting in a graveyard using different tools and equipment.
You’ll also take part in a short ritual at the beginning of the tour to make sure no evil spirit attaches to you during the experience.
19th-Century Prison Cell Under a Pub

Your tour will end at one of London’s most haunted pubs, The Viaduct Tavern.
The reason this is one of the most haunted pubs in London is because there is a 19th-century prison cell under the building.
The prison cell is not open to the public, however, the participants of the Phantom Femmes: Ghostly Tales of the City Gals walking tour have the privilege to go downstairs and visit it. All the pub asks in return is that some of the participants stay for a drink (or two). And why wouldn’t you stay?

You’ll have the opportunity to literally go inside that prison cell and use a ghost detector and try to catch some paranormal activity.
The other reason The Viaduct Taver is haunted is because the opposite side of the tavern was the Newgate Prison which operated from the 12th century to 1904 and there were regular public executions in front of the prison.
The Viaduct Tavern decided to make the most out of the situation and introduced their ‘hanging breakfasts’. That allowed their wealthier customers and patrons to use the upper floors that provided excellent view to the executions whilst having their breakfast.

Newgate Prison was demolished in 1904, and Central Criminal Court was built on its site.
When we were there, we actually detected a little bit of paranormal activity, and the manager of the pub showed as a video footage of an object moving by itself on the counter. The footage was taken earlier that very same day!
