The Highest-Ever Public Sculpture Display in the UK
Celebrating the upcoming release of the Superman movie from director James Gunn, a 3.5m (11ft) tall Superman sculpture appeared floating above London’s iconic landmark, The Shard on the 1st July for one day only.
The sculpture weighted 120kg and it had taken four months to create. The sculpture looked exactly like actor David Corenswet because his body and face had been 3D scanned and translated to a physical character to be displayed as the highest public sculpture ever in the UK.
The Shard is 310 metres high, and the Superman sculpture was soaring at 300 metres high in his iconic costume and cape, one leg bent, the head looking down, just like in the film as though he was scanning potential threat to protect the city from.
At times two Daily Planet helicopters also appeared to circle around Superman to nod to the iconic fictional newspaper’s tagline, ‘Look Up’.
Ready for your next adventure? Jurassic World: The Experience has rumbled its way back to London this summer with life-size dinosaurs, John Hammond’s lab, baby dinos you can actually touch and some spine-shivering moments with a T-Rex.
