Vivienne Westwood – The Personal Collection

Late fashion icon, Vivienne Westwood personal wardrobe is open to the public to view at Christie’s auction house before going for an auction this June.

 

Over 200 personal items are on display, including gowns, jewels, suits, shoes and tights worn by Dame Vivienne over a 40-year period. The earliest piece is from the Witches collection designed for Autumn/Winter 1983/84.

The exhibition also see works from the 20^th and 21^st centuries, such as the ‘Drunken Tailor Suit’ which she wore on a night out in Mayfair in 2021.

 

All the items are going for a “historic auction”  in this June to support charities Vivienne Westwood supported herself, including Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières, Greenpeace as well as The Vivienne Westwood Foundation that is built upon Vivienne’s four pillar approach: halt climate change, stop war, defend human rights and protest capitalism.

The auction will have two parts. Part I will be on 25^th June and will include large-scale signed prints of playing cards, designed by Vivienne in 2017.

Part II has been an online auction running from 14^th – 28^th June 2024.

Vivienne Westwood is recognised as one of the most important British fashion designers of all time and the most iconic fashion designer of the last quarter of the 20^th century.

 

There is also a catalogue for sale, which is a collector item by itself.
