Sir Ridley Scott’s newest monumental masterpiece, Napoleon, had the UK premiere yesterday (16 November) at Odeon Lux Cinema, Leicester Square.

I must confess, I had the fear that the rain might ruin the premiere of Napoleon yesterday, but luckily the weather was kind to us, and the rain stopped just before the start of the premiere.
Napoleon movie will be in theatres in the UK from 22 November 2023 and its red carpet event was taken place yesterday at Odeon Lux Cinema, Leicester Square London.
The premiere couldn’t have started better. Sir Ridley Scott was the first who stepped on the red, white and blue carpet. He was then followed by Vanessa Kirby, who is portraying Napoleon’s beloved wife, Josephine and Joaquin Phoenix (Napoleon). Supporting actors, such as Edouard Philipponnat, Youssef Kerkour and Paul Rhys also attended along with producers, costume designers and visual effect producers.
Joaquin Phoenix was the last who arrived at the premier at around 7pm. He, Vanessa Kirby and Ridley Scott then posed for photos together before they went to meet their fans and give interviews.

“Joaquin looks like Napoleon.” – Ridley Scott said when asked why he had chosen Joaquin to play Napoleon. “When you’re doing a film with Joaquin, he comes alive. I casted Joaquin because of his passion” – he added.
Joaquin Phoenix reunited with director Sir Ridley Scott for the first time after the Gladiator movie in 2000.
This is how Vanessa Kirby described how it was working with Joaquin: “Scenes with him just felt authentic.” She said there was a brutal and intense relationship between Napoleon and Josephine, and they (Kirby and Phoenix) often made fun to help each other getting along with the difficult scenes.

Napoleon Bonaparte, later known as Napoleon I, was a Corsican-born French military commander and political leader. He became famous for his successful campaigns during the French Revolution.
Napoleon movie depicts Napoleon’s military successes and political career as well as his intense, controversial and dysfunctional relationship with his first wife, Josephine.
