Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by a variety of seafood along with baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables. These are all available for selection and you can choose from a range of different cooking styles rarely seen in Chinatown:

Dishes cooked with ‘Sous Vide’ technique are vacuum-sealed and cooked at a precise temperature to perfection.

If you choose ‘Binchotan’, your dish will be cooked over Japanese white charcoal.

Dishes prepared with ‘Teppanyaki’ will be grilled or fried on a hot iron plate.

The cutting-edge menu is created by Chef Lum Wah Cheok who is known for his expertise gained at prestigious restaurants, such as Hakkasan and Yauatcha.

We tried ‘Bamboo Tube Rice with Chicken Curry’ which was made with a traditional cooking technique.

They slow-steam the rice within the bamboo tube to preserve the original flavour making sure each rice grain is infused with aroma and texture. Then they serve the rice while still inside the bamboo tube with either chicken curry, pork or seafood.

Their signature charcoal chicken wings were served in a stylish woven basket nesting on fresh leaves. The wings were big and juicy and served with lovely home-made sauce.

‘Pasar Malam Prawns Fritters’ is a hugely popular street food in Asia. They embed the prawns in some batter mixed with vegetables and fry it until crispy. A lovely snack to either start or finish your meal with.

‘Childhood Radish Ricecake’

‘Childhood Radish Ricecake’ is a traditional snack originating from Chaozhu in Guangdong. It was originally a street food sensation in Malaysia and later gained popularity not only in Singapore, but today it’s a popular snack served in many restaurants here in Chinatown London as well. It’s a nostalgic childhood snack for those grew up in Southeast Asia.

If you’re a lover of Asian food or simply love trying new flavours, YiQi is a must-visit in Chinatown!
