[BLOG POST IN BIO] Brick Lane has been Wicked-ified to celebrate the release of Wicked: For Good ๐ฉท๐ ๐งฑ The transformation has been taken place as a special collaboration between Truman Brewery, @Universal Pictures UK and Tower Hamlets Council, involving six top street artists known for their unique styles ๐ Until the 2nd Dec @Wicked: For Good #wickedforgood#yellowbrickroad#wickedmovie#wickedmovie2025#streetart
Londoners and tourists can follow the iconic Yellow Brick Lane until the 2nd December to celebrate the new Wicked film, Wicked: For Good.
Even the street name plaques have been temporarily changed from Brick Lane to Yellow Brick Lane.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
The transformation has been taken place as a special collaboration between Truman Brewery, Universal Pictures UK and Tower Hamlets Council, involving six top street artists known for their unique styles.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
The artists are Taya De La Cruz, James Cocran aka Jimmy C, Tom Blackford, Mr Cenz, Sophie Mess and Nicholas Dixon.
You can follow the Yellow Brick Lane from the Banglatown Arch to the area around the Old Truman Brewery and spot beautiful large scale murals featuring Elphaba, Glinda, the flying monkeys, and a pink and green door symbolising the relationship between Glinda and Elphaba.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
There is also a quote on the Old Truman Breweryโs wall written in pink and green neon letters.
ย
A Secret Project
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย ย
The Yellow Brick Lane project has been kept top secret. So much so that the artists didnโt even know what design they would paint until they arrived at Brick Lane or who the other artists were.
The projects had to be done at an extremely short period of time. The street artists had just two days to finish their artworks.
The six artists worked tirelessly to finish on time while a constant rainfall gave them difficult times. Tents and industrial drying machines were used to prevent the paintings from melting and allow them to dry completely.
Mr Cenzโs Futuristic Funky Style Portrait of Elphaba and Glinda
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Mr Cenz is known for his futuristic style artworks. He usually paints solo portraits but now he chose to create a dual portrait of Elphaba and Glinda to showcase the contrast between the two characters.
Tom Blackfordโs Flying Monkeys
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Graffiti artist Tom Blackford wanted to choose less obvious characters from the film.
He chose the flying monkeys because their aesthetic stands close to Blackfordโs slightly dark style.
Sophie Messโs Floral Design
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย ย
Sophie Messpainted her signature giant florals in 10 shades of pink and green. She painted flowers inspired by the film: tulips and flower fields of Munchkinland. She often incorporates text into her artworks. This time the text says: โFor Goodโ referring to the title of the film.
Nicholas Dixonโs Colliding Circles
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย ย
Nicholas Dixon paints โwhat he cannot put into wordsโ. He uses vivid colours to express his deepest feelings.
For this special project, he chose to paint two colliding circles, titled, โWhen Worlds Collideโ with the word โWickedโ in them using typography inspired by the lettering of the original Wicked of Oz film and the first Wicked film from 2024.
The artwork has a strong message: never judge a book by its cover.
(Unfortunately, the mural was partly damaged when we visited, so we can only show part of it)
ย
Jimmy Cโs Bubble Glinda
Photo: Urban Adventurer
Jimmy C is known for his unique bubble-style artworks. One of his most famous murals is the โbubble ladyโ in Shoreditch.
As Glinda is famously travels in a giant bubble, it couldnโt have matched more perfectly to his style.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
Jimmy also painted Elphaba but in a completely different style. To paint her, he used a so called โscribble paintingโ technique. Using this technique, the finished portrait gives the impression that the character is very powerful.
Taya De la Cruzโs Pink and Green Doors
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Taya De La Cruz uses a very special technique for her artworks. She uses syringes to create the most precise drips of resin and acrylic.
She created two matching doors, one pink and one green, symbolising the special bond between Elphaba and Glinda and how they seek good within each other. The two doors act like a portal to goodness. Who would you become if you opened the doors and stepped in?

Mary Shelley Wrote Frankenstein as Part of a Writing Challenge
Photo: Urban Adventurer
Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein as part of a writing challenge between herself and famous poets, Percy Shelley (her husband) and Lord Byron.
While visiting Villa Diodati in Switzerland, a violent storm reached the whole country and forced all three of them within the walls of the villa. Stuck indoors for days, Byron suggested a writing competition. All three of them wrote ghost stories to pass time and they voted for the best.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
Needless to say, Shelleyโs Frankenstein won the competition. It was 1816 and Mary Shelley was only 18 years old, and this was her first time writing a fiction novel. Frankenstein was published two years later in 1818.
If the weather was nice during Mary Shelleyโs visit in Switzerland, she would probably have never written Frankenstein.
Over the decades, her novel inspired films, literature, fashion, music, technology and science. The impact of the story of โThe Modern Prometheusโ is with us even today in the 21st century to remind us that we are responsible for what weโve created.

The exhibition also shares personal comments and thoughts from the actors, actresses, the director, and other members of the crew about filming, iconic scenes and the characters, and what working on the Wicked films meant to them.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
โOur hearts were broken when Glinda canโt make the choice that we want her to make at the end of Wicked. But heroism has value no matter when we summon it. And in Wicked: For Good, Glindaโs decision to pop her own bubble and join the fight, when she knows full well the cost of that decision, is as an act of courage as meaningful as Elpabaโs.โ โ director Jon M. Chu says.
Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible) says: โCynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are just so exquisite together; theyโre like the Yin and Yang. When you see them, you can feel that deep connection.โ

The exhibition also features replica props, including Glindaโs and Elphabaโs full garment, Glindaโs wand, The Grimmerie (the triangular-shaped book Elphaba opened at the end of the film), a maquette of the Emerald City Express and more.
Photo: Urban Adventurer

Did you know that the Emerald City Express was actually built for the film? Itโs a towering 16ft tall and 58 tons marvel. A custom-made CGI replica was also built, so the production team could combine the two smoothly during dynamic shots.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Glindaโs whimsical bubble wand is made from shimmering orbs and glistening gems to echo the hues of her dress.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
In the first film, Elphabaโs costume was lean, rigid and angular to reflect her reserved and defined persona. Costume designer Paul Tazewell drew inspiration from nature and incorporated mushroom and Fibonacci spiral into the designs to symbolise life.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Glindaโs dresses feature flowers and symbols of joy and fun. Her pink and Levander dresses are in stark contrast to Elphabaโs costumes. Glindaโs costumes represent the worry-free world she lives in. The inspiration for her dresses came from the 1950s and the Victorian era.
Photo: Urban Adventurer

Paul Tazewellโs aim was to design a unique language and voice to the Wicked films through the costumes, separate from Broadwayโs musical world.

What to Expect
Photo: Urban Adventurer
You will stand face-to-face with the Pink Soldiers and test your skills across 5 interactive games to challenge your memory, luck and nerve.
Squid Game: The Experience is directly inspired by the award-winning Netflix series, so the first thing you will be doing is take a photo of yourself (Smile!).
Next, youโll be divided into groups, blue or red.
Now, after some safety instructions, the real fun starts!
There are 5 thrilling games to participate in.
Red Light, Green Light
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Find yourself face-to-face with Young-Hee, the merciless giant doll while youโre playing your childhood favourite game, Red Light, Green Light.
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
Make it to the other side before the time finishes. If you donโt? Well, unlike the series, you wonโt meet your faith by a Pink Soldier, but your high-tech wristband will track all your data and gives you ranking (Red: lower score, Orange: intermediate position, Green: those who nailed the game).
Memory Steps

ย
Next, youโll find yourself standing in front of the spine-chilling glass bridge. In this game, however, you donโt have to worry about falling to the concrete ground if your guessing is wrong.
Before entering the game, youโll have a couple of seconds to memorise which tile is safe to stand on. Then, during the game you have to recall it from your memory.
Thug a War
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
This is to only one game you have to play in groups. You will be battling with another group and each player has 5 seconds to pull the rope as fast as they can to move the red flag as far as they can.
Marbles
Photo: Urban Adventurer
ย
ย Just like in Squid Game, you have to throw your marbles as close as you can to the target ball and knock your opponentโs boules away. Sounds easy? Well, not exactly.
Round and Round

ย
This is the reimaged version of the original game. Instead of forming groups and finding an empty room, you have to land on the correct shape before the signal ends.

Marie Antoinette is the most controversial and fashionable queen in history. Her name summons lavish lifestyle, unimaginable luxury and extravagance.
Marie Antoinette has had an enormous influence on fashion, design, arts, interiors and more.
Although Marie Antoinette was hugely unpopular to the French people (her nickname was Madame Deficit) at her time, she undoubtedly shaped and still shaping our taste through fashion, film, and arts.
This is the design legacy of an early modern celebrity and the story of a woman whose power to fascinate has never ebbed.
Highlights of the Exhibition

On entering the main exhibition room, the first thing youโll see is a gorgeous wedding dress, worn by Marie Antoinetteโs sister-in-law, Duchess Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotta, for her wedding in Versailles in 1773.

Original slippers, worn by Marie Antoinette are also on display.
In her early days in court, she received four new pairs of shoes each week. She quickly mastered the โVersailles glideโ, a graceful walk that gives the illusion of the feet barely touching the ground.

This necklace was ordered by Louis XV for his mistress Madam du Barry; however, the king died before the necklace was completed. With diamonds 2,842 carats in total, this necklace was the most expensive ever made on France.
It was later offered to Marie Antoinette who refused.

Marie Antoinetteโs jewellery casket and armchair are also on display. She received the jewellery casket as a wedding gift when she first arrived in France in 1770. The casket is richly decorated with Sรจvres floral porcelain plaques, and it has a lockable drawer.

The armchair encapsulates Marie Antoinetteโs late style: white, and gilded Neoclassical schemes and flower decoration. She used this chair in her private dressing room during her final Summers at the Chรขteau de Saint-Cloud.

A letter written by the 19 years old Marie Antoinette to Count Rosenberg, in which she expresses her loneliness and incompatibility with her husband, Louis XVI.
She wrote: โI do not share the Kingโs taste. He is only interested in hunting and in mechanical workโฆI know you will agree that I would look quite awkward standing at the forge: I would not make a good Vulcan, and if I were to play the role of Venus, that would bother him far more than my real tastes, which he does not seem to mind.โ
Her marriage remained unconsummated for seven years.

Marie Antoinette was executed on 16th October 1793. In the morning, she sat down to write her final notes into her prayer book. It says: โMy God, have pity on me! My eyes have no more tears to cry for you my poor children; adieu, adieu!โ

This medallion contains the hair of Marie Antoinetteโs and her younger son, Louis-Charles’s. The light blond in the middle is Louis-Charlesโs, while the darker blond encircle around it is her motherโs.

The guillotine blade is from the French Revolution and is reputed to be the one that beheaded Marie Antoinette. Madame Tussaudโs sons bought it from the grandson of the High Executioner during the French Revolution.
Film Costumes and Designer Clothes

The final room is dedicated to contemporary clothing, including Dior, Channel, Vivienne Westwood, Valentino, Moschino and more.
In the centre of the room there is the โMarquise Masquรฉeโ gown made by John Galliano for Christian Dior. The pastel green gown blends Diorโs timeless glamour while paying tribute to Marie Antoinetteโs court dress.

The two show-stopping cake dresses are from Moschino. Theyโre a spectacular celebration of Marie Antoinetteโs style blended with whimsical modernity and pop culture.

There are a series of costumes from Sofia Coppolaโs 2006 film โMarie Antionetteโ.
The Oscar-winning costumes were designed by Milena Canonero and worn by Kirsten Dunst who played Marie Antoinette.

This costume was worn by Elle Fanning in โThe Greatโ Season 3, Episode 3. โThe Greatโ (2020 โ 2023) is a fictional series about the life of Catherine II of Russia.

Another amazing court dress from the 1939 film โMarie Antoinetteโ worn by Norma Shearer. Costume designer Gilbert Adrian drew inspiration from รlisabeth Vigรฉe Le Brunโs portraits of Marie Antoinette which he blended with Hollywood glamour.
Adrianโs fascination with the 18-century fashion extended to his other works, including โThe Wizard of Ozโ (1939). You can clearly recognise this influence in Glindaโs dress.
