The Hawley Arms Pub

Amy Winehouse moved to Camden in her early twenties in 2003. She regularly visited The Hawley Arms Pub where she had worked as a barmaid before she became famous.
There is a signed photo of her inside the pub. Make sure you don’t miss it when visiting!
She met fellow singers there, such as Pete Doherty and would play billiard and gave club concerts. Even after she became famous, she would regularly visit the pub and occasionally even jumped behind the bar to serve drinks to the customers’ delight.

Sadly, The Hawley Arms badly burnet during the Camden Lock fire in 2008. Amy, who received her first Grammy Award on the next day of the fire, famously shouted: “Camden Town ain’t burning down!”
Luckily, following a great fundraising effort, the pub re-opened in the same year.

The Music Walk of Fame in Camden started in 2019 and in the following year, they unveiled a granite stone honouring Amy Winehouse’s legacy.
The Music Walk of Fame is celebrating music legends, icons, and the most extraordinary talents. The walk of fame commemorates Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Janis Joplin and The Who, just to name a few.
The Music Walk of Fame starts just outside of Camden Town station (both sides of the road) and will continue all the way down Chalk Farm Road in years to come.
TIP: Make sure you go early (before 9am) because later there will be so many people, you won’t be able to take good photos.

Amy Winehouse’s Camden home was a well-visited place for her fans and tourists alike to pay their respects. There were huge memorials outside the house and fans even left their messages on Camden Square signs and sometimes even stole those signs.
Today the house is not visible on Google street view, it’s blurred by the request of her family.

Fans are still visiting the house regularly. When I was there, I found a fresh bouquet of tulip at the tree standing in front of the house with a poignant letter.
There are also engraved locks fixed on the tree. They say:
“I love you, Amy. I miss you every day. Rest in peace. Love always, Jaclyn.”
“Love you. Amy Love. Flo Xx”
“Andrew & Eve. March 20th”
“Te quiero con todo mi ❤️ Amy ⚓️ Aroa 2023”

On the white fence, there are lots of messages as well, along with lipstick kisses.
